Casino Advisory Panel to Hold Dialogue in SheffieldA public meeting will be held in the city of Sheffield as organized by the Casino Advisory Panel. The panel which will be deciding on whether to grant a super casino license to the city or not will be holding the "examination in public" or EiP in September 6. The venue is yet to be announced. "The panel has shortlisted the proposal made by Sheffield Council for a regional casino," Prof Stephen Crow, chairman of the Casino Advisory Panel, said. "At the EiP, the panel will hear more from Sheffield Council and other invited participants on the merits of a regional casino in the area." "The panel will also be holding an EiP in each of the other seven local authority areas that have been shortlisted for a regional casino," he added. "The evidence provided will assist the panel to make its recommendation to the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport as to where in Britain the regional casino should be located." Interested parties who would like to take part in the dialogue has to apply by 4pm on Thursday, Aug. 10. They are required to submit a brief summary of their case, in no more than 500 words. The panel will then assess the applications and issue invitations to those who will qualify. Prof Crow added: "As Parliament has already decided there should be one regional casino in Britain, the panel will expect participants to give their views on why or why not it should be in Sheffield, rather than their views on gambling generally." |
